Many women wonder if it is dangerous to have lumps of flesh like fat during menstruation. This condition is very reasonable. Menstruating women can release lumps like gel that looks like jam.

However, you need to pay attention to the size and volume of the lump of flesh. If lumps of flesh such as fat during menstruation only occasionally occur in small amounts, this is very normal. But if otherwise, then you need to consult a gynecologist.

This article will explain how normal and abnormal blood clots form during menstruation. Let’s see!

Normal Signs of Menstrual Clots

You need to know the following characteristics to see if lumps of flesh like fat during menstruation are considered normal.

1. Small Size

Menstrual blood clots are said to be expected when they are small. So if the size is large with a very large number, you need to be careful.

2. Occurs at the Beginning of Menstruation

Blood clots during menstruation are normal if they occur at the beginning. This happens because the amount of blood released is very large at the beginning of menstruation. Generally, the clot will not come out at the end of the period.

3. Doesn’t Cause Pain

If lumps of flesh like fat come out during menstruation but do not cause excessive pain or tenderness, this is normal. Pain during menstruation is natural, so there is nothing to worry about.

4. Bright / Dark Red Color

The following normal menstrual clot signs are bright red or dark red. This color is the standard color of menstrual blood.

Why Do You Get Lumps During Your Period?

So what causes the discharge of clots during menstruation? You need to know if, during menstruation, the uterine lining will shed. In this period, there is a time when the uterine wall becomes very thick. This happens because the fertilized egg needs the right place to attach.

However, the thickened uterine wall will shed if the egg is not fertilized. This is called menstruation. The shed blood can be in the form of mucus or tissue.

When the uterine wall is shed, the body will produce anticoagulants to control the blood that comes out. The form of blood that comes out becomes thinner so that it is easy to come out of the vagina.

However, there are times when the shed uterine wall has a tremendous flow that forms a clot. These lumps are similar to flesh and are red. This is very normal to occur at the beginning of menstruation.

So, as long as lumps of flesh such as fat during menstruation still meet the usual criteria, there is nothing to worry about. You need to be careful if the menstrual clots that come out are very large and cause pain. Especially if it continues for several days, you need to consult a doctor immediately.
